 Introduction to Orienteering, cost £50

This course is for anyone with no or limited experience of orienteering.  It will be highly practical in nature and include indoor and outdoor exercises, an outline of the sport and understanding of orienteering maps and symbols.  Opportunities for further orienteering experience, for instance at organised events, will be explained.  

Anyone who has been orienteering but would like a highly practical refresher will also find this course valuable.  

This course is strongly recommended for anyone considering the British Orienteering  Level 1 or Level 2 courses

British Orienteering  Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Orienteering, cost £55

This course is recommended for teachers to lead their own orienteering activities on school grounds and local parks.  Participants must have some previous orienteering experience.  Topics covered include how to introduce the sport of orienteering, awareness of safety, links with curriculum subjects, books, equipment and other resources.  Practical sessions will take place indoors and out of doors.  Everyone completing this course receives a level 1 coach training certificate.  Guidance will be given on how to complete the assessment, subsequent to this course.  Anyone with no or limited experience of orienteering is strongly recommended to attend the Introduction to Orienteering course.

British Orienteering  Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Orienteering, cost £145 plus £37 registration fee (Total £182)

This course is for teachers leading orienteering activities away from their school or local park site.  It is also designed for other leaders with some orienteering experience, or expert orienteers who want to develop coaching in their club.  The course is self-catering and residential.  There is an evening session on the first and second days.  The third day includes internal assessment.  External assessment is completed after the course (extra fees applicable).

Participants on this course must have previous orienteering experience.  Anyone with no or limited orienteering experience is strongly recommended to attend the Introduction to Orienteering course.  Participants who have completed Level 1 training can start the course on the first evening, with the cost reducing to £100

British Orienteering  Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Orienteering, cost £100

This course is designed for orienteers that have completed the level 2 Award and are keen to extend their coaching skills into new and more challenging areas.  The course will be highly practical, taking advantage of the proximity of high quality nearby orienteering terrain. The course will cover individual technical orienteering skills, as well as coaching methods and procedures. Assessment is arranged individually at a future date.  Before assessment candidates need to attend a two day (16 hour assessed) First Aid course. The award is ideal for those coaches wishing to use easily accessed forest areas and country parks, such as those in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and most other non mountainous areas.  The course is residential and self catering and includes an evening session on the first day.  A fully equipped kitchen is available.
