First Steps in Using ICT to Enhance Teaching and Learning in Literacy at Key Stage Two

Course description

This is a practical course which aims to provide teachers with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to exploit the power that ICT has to enhance teaching and learning in Literacy at Key Stage Two.

Whilst this course is aimed at non-specialist teachers of ICT, and shall be paced accordingly, a basic familiarity with PCs is desirable.

Course objectives

The relationship between the QCA Scheme of Work for ICT and the National Literacy Strategy;
Exploiting the full potential of Microsoft Word;
Working with existing text meet literacy objectives;
The practicalities of using ICT in the Literacy Hour.

Course achievements

Knowledge of the ICT skills progression at Key Stage 2;
Greater skill in using Microsoft word;
Understanding of the strategies to use ICT to teach better Literacy lessons.
