Course description

This is a practical course which aims to equip teachers with the skills, knowledge and understanding required to teach the KS1 ICT curriculum. Delegates will learn how various software titles, chosen from Nottinghamshire’s recommended list  can be used to deliver the KS1 curriculum confidently and effectively. Whilst this course is aimed at non-specialist teachers of ICT, and shall be paced accordingly, a basic familiarity with PCs is desirable. The methodology of the course will consist of a mix of demonstration, hands-on practice and discussion.

Course objectives

  • To provide teachers with a practical interpretation of the QCA Scheme of Work for ICT.
  • To give teachers first hand experience of the relevant software to meet the requirements of the QCA Scheme of Work for ICT.
  • To give teachers the opportunity to discuss the issues of classroom organisation and management in relation to the teaching of ICT skills and the application of ICT across the primary curriculum.

  • Greater expertise and confidence in the delivery of the KS1 ICT curriculum.
